Born in 1967, lives and works in Paris
Visual artist, videographer, Jean-Marc Chapoulie questions the cinema in all its forms for many years.
In 2001 curator of the Biennale de Lyon, he is invited as an artist in 2005 withTDF06, a film about the Tour de France. After about 50 shows around the world, he showed this year his latest film Mr. Google who owns the reality? at the Centre Pompidou, Paris. In the 90s, he worked with André S. Labarthe and Janine Bazin (Cinéma, de notre temps), Eric Rohmer and Jean-Luc Godard.
He is currently teaching at the School of Fine Art in Annecy where he leads a research line, Folk Film Archive, in collaboration with the CNEAI (Chatou, France). He has published essays on cinema around the questions of the amateur and the vernacular.
