Éric Maillet

Born in 1961, lives and works between Paris and Marseille.

Artist working with electronic media (video, sound, computer networks), but also digital culture for its aesthetic and the social codes it induces.

He does not feel as a "new tech" artist or practicing what we call digital art; he developed his work on the side of poetry, collage, and exploration or criticism of the relationship sometimes ambiguous that can be done in our world. The ambiguous relationship between reality and its representation, the aesthetic of the copy/paste and poetic effects induced by these gestures in language are very present; humor or often the unexpected, too. He likes to intervene in the public space, on the information media, or in given forms.

He may also be involved in curating exhibitions, as is the case for Staring at you staring at me conceived in collaboration with Jinsang Yoo.
